Ch'en the Holungday is the "alter" version of Ch'en who is a Spreadshooter Sniper specializing in DPS, and only available from the Carnival limited headhunting banners starting from Holiday Stars – she will never be available from any other headhunting banners. Being a limited banner, the "pity" system from other banners are not carried over to the Carnival banners, which tracks the pity system separately. To compensate that, the Holungday (along with Mizuki) has a 70% chance to be the 6★ Operator that appears in a pull (instead of other 6★ Operators' 50%) and can be purchased at the Certificate Store for 300 .
Being an alter Operator, the Holungday is subject to the following mechanics:
- Both Ch'en and the Holungday share the same Trust, but have different potential, skills (as well as separate skill upgrades/Mastery training), talent, and base skills (as well as separate morale).
- Both Ch'en and the Holungday have their own outfits and dialogues, and are available separately as the player's Assistant.
- Both Ch'en and the Holungday can be present in one squad or the RIIC at the same time.
As a Spreadshooter Sniper, the Holungday has a very short range in comparison to other Snipers, covering 1×3 tiles ahead of her with a 1-tile extension up front that is improved to 2×3 tiles ahead of her at Elite 1, but her attacks hit all enemies within that short range with the ones on the row in front of her taking 1.5× damage. the Holungday also has the highest HP and DEF of all Snipers, but this was offset by having the highest DP cost as well – with a staggering 32 at Elite 1, thus making her cannot be deployed and redeployed easily, especially in the early game.
The Holungday's skills allow her to inflict severe damage to just about anything in her way as well as debilitating them, and all three of them utilizes the Ammunition mechanic:
- The first skill, High-Pressure Splash, is activated every several attacks and has 4 shots, which buffs the Holungday's ATK and applies her trait to all enemies within her attack range instead of the one on the row in front of her. High-Pressure Splash, however, is overshadowed by the other two skills especially "Holiday Storm" (see below), but its automatic activation can be useful for sustained DPS without micromanagement.
- The second skill, "Night of Violet", has 8 shots, which buffs the Holungday's ATK and causes each of her attacks to cover her range in a sticky goo that lasts for 5 seconds, which reduces the speed and DEF (by a flat amount) of enemies trapped in the goo and does not stack if multiple goos overlap on one enemy, weakening them for easy pickings by the Holungday and other Operators. "Night of Violet" can be Overcharged, in which case the skill will have 20 shots. Still, "Night of Violet" pales in comparison with "Holiday Storm" (see below).
- The third skill, "Holiday Storm", has the Holungday attack twice in each strike which applies both High-Pressure Splash and "Night of Violet" at the same time with the added effect of extending the Holungday's range to a cone-shaped radius of 3×5 tiles ahead of her and the goos also reduce the victims' speed and DEF more than that of "Night of Violet". This is easily one of the highest sources of DPS in Arknights, turning the Holungday into a powerhouse who could shred (or more likely, dissolve) apart just about anyone in her way. Compared to other similar "beatstick" skills, "Holiday Storm" does not knock out the Holungday when expiring as Surtr's Twilight does or having a very high SP cost like SilverAsh's Truesilver Slash; while it has an above-average SP cost, the ammunition mechanic allows "Holiday Storm" to be liberally used to give even the toughest of enemies like Talulah (and the Deathless Black Snake) a run for their money! "Holiday Storm" has 32 shots, but each attack with it consumes 2 shots since the Holungday attacks twice, thus the skill effectively lasts for 16 attacks. This does nothing to hinder the Holungday's ultimate power (though the player still have to time its usage carefully to make the most of it), therefore "Holiday Storm" must be her go-to skill.
The Holungday's first talent, Frugality, gives a chance for her and other Snipers whose skills use the Ammunition mechanic to have their attack not consuming the skill's shots, which could be useful to prolong the uptime of the Holungday's skills and synergizes well with Ash's Assault Tactics due to the amount of bullets it has. Her second talent, Vestiges of Vacation, provides a slight buff to the Holungday's ASPD that is increased when she is deployed on operations featuring water tiles.
The Holungday's first base skill, Sniper Expert α, speeds up the skill Mastery training of Sniper Operators by 30% when she is assigned as a trainer in the Training Room; at Elite 2, it becomes Leading by Example which speeds it up further to 65% if the training is for Mastery 1, but her second base skill Workaholic increases her morale drain rate by 1 per hour if that was the case.
Overall, Ch'en the Holungday is an outstanding Spreadshooter Sniper and pulls above her weight despite her sheer rarity and the controversy surrounding her release (see Dossoles Holiday's trivia for more information) by bursting down enemies with her inconspicious but deadly water cannon especially when enemies get too close for comfort, where they are in for a big world of hurt.
