Kal'tsit Battle, Unique Voicelines, Dialogues- Conversation with Doctor - Arknights Memes

Video showing some of Kal'tsit's dialogues that can be heard in Arknights' beta, which has since been reintroduced to the game

  • Yōko Hikasa was credited as Kal'tsit's CV in her Archive profile as an NPC prior to her reintroduction as an Operator since she was an Operator in the beta of Arknights and her then-unused dialogues remained in the game files. This makes her the only NPC who has a CV credited in-game.
  • Ayane Sakura (Nearl, The Radiant Knight, Goldenglow)'s line from one of her role as Clarisse in Granblue Fantasy was sampled by The Chainsmokers in their song I Love U.
  • Kent Ito (Insider) used to be a Vocaloid producer under the pseudonym 21SeikiP, he also released another vocaloid song for Project Sekai under his own name titled Magic Number sung by Hatsune Miku (whose voice is sampled from Yato's voice actor Saki Fujita) with Oster Project handling the arrangement.
  • Saki Fujita (Yato) is very well known to be the voice sample for the extremely popular vocaloid Hatsune Miku. Yu Asakawa (PRTS, Prelude to Dawn only) is also the voice of another popular vocaloid Megurine Luka, a bilingual (English and Japanese) voice bank.
    • Asakawa, likewise, is also fluent in English, and was picked to be Luka's VA for this reason.
  • Ayumi Fujimura (Rope, Savage) is currently on extended hiatus since April 2019, one month before Arknights is launched in CN.
  • Kikuko Inoue (Ling) is the mother of Honoka Inoue (Honeyberry).
  • Yuki Kaji (Ayerscarpe) is married to Ayana Taketatsu (W).
  • Kensho Ono (Enforcer) is married to Kana Hanazawa (Blemishine).
  • Takuma Terashima (Stainless) is married to Satomi Sato (Dorothy).
    • Terashima is also good friends with Yuki Kaji and made frequent appearances on Kaji's Youtube channel where they played games together.
  • Ayumu Murase (Mizuki) is fluent in English due to his American background, as attested in the CV greetings made to commemorate Arknights Global's 2nd anniversary.[2]
  • Azusa Tadokoro (Kroos, Texas) is the only voice actor who voiced multiple operators who received Alter versions of themselves.
  • Risa Kubota (Lunacub) announced her retirement from the voice acting industry on July 31, 2023; the Arknights Fandom Wiki will continue crediting Kubota as Lunacub's JP CV until her replacement is announced.
  • Motoyuki Kawahara (Stormeye) confessed that he's one of the very few percentage of players in Japanese server who managed to clear all the Contingency Contracts (up until Deepness) with Risk 18 and above.
  • Hikaru Midorikawa (Gnosis, THRM-EX) taught Nobunaga Shimazaki (Tequila) how to play Arknights.[3] In fact, Midorikawa frequently posted his progress in Arknights on his personal blog.[4] He is currently the host of Arknights no Suzume on Arknights JP's YouTube channel with Yusuke Kobayashi (Lumen) where they introduce Arknights to first time players and beginners.
  • Interestingly, Ayako Kawasumi (Siege) voiced several characters whose background, inspiration, origin or birthplace are from United Kingdom/Great Britain like Siege in other media such as, Morgan le Fay in Oh My Goddess! The Movie, Laura Stuart in To Aru Majutsu no Index, and Artoria Pendragon and her other variants and Proto Merlin/Lady Avalon in Fate series.
  • Originally Platinum was voiced by Ai Kayano, but a flash update in October 24, 2021 changed her CV to Mizuki Kitajima. This makes Kayano the first CV in Arknights who was later replaced.
    • This is due to a controversy in the Chinese ACGN community from Kayano's visit to Yasukuni Shrine, which caused her to no longer be credited as Platinum's CV and her recorded dialogue to be removed in the CN server between the Twilight of Wolumonde Rerun and a flash update in October 24, 2021. For more information, see Platinum's trivia.
  • As a very old and popular meme in the Chinese ACGN community, whenever there is a VA who has voiced iconic characters elsewhere (e.g. SilverAsh and Diavolo; Pozëmka and Chisato; Rosmontis and Shiroko), the Takahiro Sakurai meme (or better known as 考哥.jpg in Chinese) will be brought up, especially the one where he quoted: "You guys just please don't mix characters and VAs together!" (original quote: すぐ役と声優さんをこうグッとするなお前らはもう!)[5] In Arknights' case, this is often associated with Passenger, who is voiced by Takahiro.
    • Tequila is also involved in this meme since his CV, Nobunaga Shimazaki, was present when Takahiro said the aforementioned quote.
    • Following Takahiro's cheating scandal in September 2022 that shunned him from publicity,[6] this meme can also be replaced by Risa Taneda (Eyjafjalla) who too once responded to VA jokes by stating "The character being voiced and VAs are not the same and thus this is wrong."
  • Before Arknights, Ayane Sakura (Nearl) and Kana Hanazawa (Blemishine) worked together in Nisekoi and The Quintessential Quintuplets, where they voiced Haru Onodera and Kosaki Onodera, Yotsuba Nakano and Ichika Nakano, respectively. Like Nearl and Blemishine, these duos are also sisters.

Chinese[]

  • Most Chinese CVs are credited under various aliases/pseudonyms in the EN server rather than their real names as in the CN server, which is likely done to make them easily recognizable for players outside China.
    • However, there are some whose credited names are the other way around, most notably the Chinese CV of Aurora and Wild Mane who is credited as "Shishi" in CN but credited as "Jingxia Liu" in EN.
  • Unlike the Japanese and English CVs, many Chinese CVs voiced more than three Operators whereas most JP and EN CVs voiced at most three Operators (not counting alternates). Currently, Gui Niang/D. QQ, Xie Ying, and Zi Mao/Kousou Mao voiced the most characters of all Arknights CVs, at no less than six.
  • There are some Chinese CVs who could speak their homeland dialects but are done by others. For example, Xie Ying is born a Cantonese and could speak the said dialect, but her dialectic voice for Swire is done by Dong Dong instead.
  • Many Chinese CVs had their beginning from voicing children animations such as Anita Luo Yuting (Roberta) and Thea Lu Xiaotong (Dur-nar, Akafuyu).
  • While most of the VAs are from Shanghai-based studios, there are others hailing from other regions like Feng Ming (Elysium) from the 729 Studio (729声工场) based in Beijing and Lü Qi (Saga) from Sound-U Studio (声娱文化) based in Chengdu.
  • Bai Deng/Akari.D (Goldenglow) and Zi Mao/Kousou Mao had voiced fan-made animations of Arknights on Bilibili before becoming official CVs. Between the two, Zi Mao remains active in voicing Arknights' fan-made animations while Bai Deng has shifted to Genshin Impact and Love Live! Superstar! To check out their work, see their Bilibili pages.
  • Xin Yue (FEater, Melantha) is married to Wang Yuhang (Młynar).
  • Sun Ye/Gary (Lumen), Yang Menglu (Texas, Nine-Colored Deer), and Luo Yanqian (Abestos) are graduates from the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
  • The overall reception of the Chinese dubbing is generally positive, especially on the implementation of dialectic dialogues for Yanese operators, though there some minor and extreme criticism on its cringe-worthiness and the lack of distinction and mischaracterization between Operators with shared CVs such as Gummy's and Executor's voices.
  • Leonhardt's Chinese CV was originally Dingdang and his voice was planned to be released in Il Siracusano. However, following the accusation of Dingdang's insults and harassments on social medias in the past, Hypergryph has terminated their agreement and has since been suspending the release.[7]His Chinese voiceover is later released with siro taking over the role.
  • On January 13, 2023, the Chinese voice acting director of Arknights, Hai Fan (who voices Wei Yenwu in Prelude to Dawn and Uncle Tung in Lee's Detective Agency: A Day in Lungmen), was accused of sexual harassment by Cai Xinchun/X. Chai since 2016 who later revealed the incident on her Weibo. HG then officially announced that their contract with him was terminated in response.[8][9] This has been considered by the community to be the biggest incident in the Arknights voice acting scene since the one involving Ai Kayano.
    • The CN community praises the decision to the point of celebrating it, since it has been suspected that Hai Fan was responsible for the less-than-stellar CN voice acting of several Operators, as mentioned above.
    • The incident also causes the community to suspect Che Lie/Jax of being involved in nepotism since he is a student of Hai Fan and his performance as Ebenholz received mostly negative feedbacks from the CN community.
  • Haitian Studio once made a fan-made dubbing for Arknights' trailer on March 19, 2021, a few months prior to the official release. The dubbing is regarded by the community as better than the official ones handled by Shenli Wenhua (which is obvious thanks to the popularity of Hong Haitian), and it ranks the 75th place in the most watched video on Bilibili as of February 2023. English[]

  • When the English CVs are introduced, the Global community jokingly believes that most Arknights Operators are British due to prevalence of UK/Europe-based CVs at first, which is actually not too far off as the Victorian language (which is identical to English) is Terra's lingua franca.
  • Due to production issues, the English dialogue of Ch'en (the Holungday) (Amy Lennox) was not added in Break the Ice despite being announced prior to the event's Global release. The dialogues are added in A Light Spark in Darkness, which was almost two months after BI.
  • From Guide Ahead, newly introduced Operators in the Global server comes with English dialogues except in Episode 10: Shatterpoint (Chestnut and Rockrock), Stultifera Navis (Windflit), It's Been A While (Luo Xiaohei), and Il Siracusano/Mizuki & Caerula Arbor (Highmore, Qanipalaat, Quartz).
    • Shalem, Enforcer (both by Chase Brown), Fiammetta (Ina Marie Smith), Kazemaru (Penelope Rawlins), Dagda (Eleanor Bennett), Paprika (Erika Harlacher), Stainless (Jack Ayres), Totter (Mercer Boffey), Qiubai (Angel Lin), Wind Chimes (Vivian Lu), Ines, Silence the Paradigmatic (both by Erica Lindbeck), Ho'olheyak (Anne Yatco), and Muelsyse (Kayli Mills) have their English dialogues added in the CN server before the Operators themselves are released in Global. Because of this, their English dialogues are retroactively included upon their Global release as opposed to adding them in light of their imminent Global release.
      • In the case of alternate Operators whose original versions haven't yet received English dialogues in Global but are added at the time of the alter's introduction in CN, the original's English dialogues would be retroactively added in the closest event on Global after the alter's release in CN, as attested by Silence whose English dialogues are introduced together with the Paradigmatic on Lone Trail in CN and retroactively added on Il Siracusano in Global.
  • Overall reception towards English CVs by the community are mostly positive, with the EN dialogues of certain Operators, prominently Phantom (Ben Cura), Nearl (the Radiant Knight) (Devora Wilde), Cantabile (Frankie Kevich), and Lappland (Christina Kowalchuk) seen as fitting to the respective Operators' character.
    • Starting from Episode 10: Shatterpoint, many English dialogues use dialects/accents that matches the real-world analogue of the respective Operators' Terran country of origin and even speaks in the corresponding language at times such as Horn (Anna Burnett) speaking British English, Irene (Lizzie Waterworth) speaking in Spanish accent, and Ebenholz (Atilla Akinci) and Istina (Risa Mei) sometimes speaking German and Russian, respectively, which is well-received by the Global community.
      • From An Obscure Wanderer to Il Siracusano, the English translations of non-English parts of Operator dialogues are written in parentheses after it. It is unknown why these were later removed, although this might have been done to clean up the texts and to allow players to interpret the translations themselves. Some non-English words subtitled in parenthesis remains, as seen in Greyy the Lightningbearer's dialogs.
    • The English dialogues of Czerny (Gunnar Cauthery) and Ebenholz are praised by KR and JP players with some noting them to be among the best examples of English voice acting in Arknights.
  • Prior to the Dorothy's Vision update, the in-game dialogue texts of Operators whose English CVs were introduced in Ideal City does not match the spoken dialogue, which is most noticeable in earlier Operators such as Gavial and Istina.
    • After the DV update, some Operators' in-game dialogue texts are reworded/paraphrased and some had their dialogue lines redone to correct inconsistent pronunciations (particularly Nearl the Radiant Knight pronouncing "Kazimierz").
  • Interestingly, many English CVs who made their ACGN voice acting debut in Arknights went on to voice the English dialogues of characters in Aether Gazer whose English server is also published by Yostar and released at the same day as Il Siracusano.
    • Emma Ballantine (Amiya) notably voices Verthandi, who is Aether Gazer's poster girl.
  • Jessica McDonald (Yato) and Naomi McDonald (Gravel) are siblings.
  • Yong Yea (Chongyue) is better known for being a YouTuber and an outspoken critic of the Western video game industry. However, he is actually a professional voice actor who had taken part in the English ACGN voice acting scene with some of his prominent roles including Enrico Pucci in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, Arios Macklaine in The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie, and Kazuma Kiryu in the Yakuza series from the upcoming Like a Dragon: Gaiden and Infinite Wealth, replacing Darryl Kurylo.
    • He is also one of the hosts of The Codec, a podcast that primarily focuses on gaming and voice acting industry with the main subject being the Metal Gear series.

Korean[]

  • Park Ri-na, whose name starts with P, voices three different Operators whose codename also starts with P (Pozëmka, Paprika, and Passenger – Eliott in the Dream in a Moment outfit).
  • Ryu Seung-gon (Noir Corne) is married to Park Shin-hee (Projekt Red).
  • Kim Myung-jun (Shalem) is a former musical actor.
  • Aside from being a voice actor, Seo Yu-ri (Lappland) also starred in Korean dramas as a supporting cast and made appearances in other television shows.
  • Jun Seung-hwa (Gnosis) is better known for voicing many Korean commercial ads prior to doing ACGN work. In fact, most of his credits are for commercial ads rather than ACGN media.
  • Pyo Young-jae (Phantom) has received acclaim especially from Japanese players who believes he acted so seriously that he can be heard choking or coughing while speaking Phantom's iconic line.
  • Despite being announced in the first batch of Korean voiceover list with Kim Yerim (Nearl, The Radiant Knight) as the voice actor, Mudrock's Korean lines have yet to be added to the server for unknown reason. Her lines were added later during A Flurry to the Flame a year after it was announced.
  • Yoon A-young (Blacknight) had an uncredited role voicing ae-Karina in K-Pop group æspa's Next Level video opposite of the actual member of the group Karina. She's also well known for being able to switch her acting tone effortlessly like in this video.
  • Park Ji-yoon (Provence) appeared on the TV Show King of Masked Singer with the alias La-La-Land where she made it to the 3rd round before losing to Son Seung-yeon.
  • Yang Jung-hwa (Croissant, Kroos, Texas) said she specifically followed Azusa Tadokoro's way of saying Kroos' iconic ko-ko-da-yo line in her Korean dub to the amusement of Japanese players saying they understood what it means despite the language difference.
  • Shin Yong-woo (Enforcer), Lee Hyun-jin (Beagle, Nightingale, Perfumer) Yang Jung-hwa, Kim Young-sun (12F) and Shim Kyu-hyuck (Adnachiel) all voiced the main characters from Mystic Messenger with Shin Yong-woo as Han Jumin, Yang Jung-hwa as Kang Jaehee, Kim Young-sun as 707 and Shim Kyu-hyuck as Kim Yoo-sung while Lee Hyun-jin voices Rika.
  • Shim Kyu-hyuck, Park Ji-yoon, Sa Moon-young, Lee Seul (Haze) and Kim Yeon-woo (Quercus) voiced the cells of the main protagonist Yu-mi in the drama Yumi's Cells. Some of them even made cameo appearances in the drama.
  • Min Seungwoo (Lumen), Park Jiyoon (Provence), Kim Yerim (Nearl, The Radiant Knight), Choi Han (Lee), Lee Seah (Liskarm), Hong Seunghyo (Chestnut), Kim Bona (Fiametta, Gitano, Magallan), Kim Sinwoo (Corroserum), Yoon Ayoung (Blacknight) and Jang Yena (Sora) voiced 10 out of the 12 playable characters in Limbus Company. This was later made into an April Fools joke in said game by making a parody of Arknights opening scene.

Others[]

  • Out of the four Italian CVs introduced in Il Siracusano, Annalisa Longo (Penance) and Ilaria Silvestri (Texas (the Omertosa)) had previously contributed to the Italian dub of Assassination Classroom.
    • Alessandro Pili (Vigil) also contributes to the Italian dub of Assassination Classroom, but he voices a minor character (Ren Sakakibara).
