The Lungmenite Job[]

The Opening[]

Lungmen, October 31, 1097 — It is the evening of Sauin, and Bison Pides, a Messenger of MountainDash Logistics and the son of its founder Eurill, is being chauffeured to meet the members of Penguin Logistics; he has just been hired as P.L.'s newest temp worker, sent by his father to learn as much as he can from another logistics company. However, the car is ambushed by a band of Siracusan mafiosi under the leadership of Capone and Gambino, who attempt to run it off the road. Exusiai and Croissant rush in to save Bison from the ambush, thwarting Capone's plans to kidnap both Bison and the members of Penguin Logistics. They make it back to P.L.'s base, where they regroup with Emperor and Texas.

Bison and the Penguin Logistics 2

"Shut the f**k up! You're in my territory, and it's my job to kick you all out!"

Bison surmises that he was the intended target of the ambush and that it was meant to provoke a reaction from both MDL and Penguin Logistics. He presses the rest of the team to consider who may have wanted to attack him; however, instead of taking the attempted kidnapping seriously, everyone else becomes distracted by Emperor's demands and the thought of throwing a "welcome party" for their new guest. P.L.'s nonchalant attitude to the situation leads Bison to question whether or not they are really nothing more than a delivery service company. Emperor and the rest of the girls reassure Bison that they don't need a plan of counterattack, and to just play the situation out by ear, although he remains unconvinced. Exusiai then notices a box of candies under Emperor's chair, which she opens... revealing that it is actually an explosive planted by the mafiosi. The gang survives the attack, but the ensuing explosion destroys Emperor's prized vinyl collection. Enraged by the loss of his precious collection, Emperor orders P.L. (along with Bison) to go after the fleeing mafia members in what becomes a car chase on the roads of downtown Lungmen. Both vehicles end up crashing on an overpass; with the others unable to exit the car, Bison breaks off from the group to chase the two mafiosi down on foot.

Fallen and Gangsters[]

Meanwhile, a female fallen Sankta strolls down the bustling markets and tastes the local snacks there, including the finballs sold by Jaye. After stumbling across Bison by coincidence and hiding him from the mafiosi, she introduces herself as Mostima, a Messenger for Penguin Logistics who usually works alone. Bison realizes that he has heard the name from his father before; he also recognizes that she is a Sankta with black horns, which match with the rumors he has heard about her. Mostima takes Bison under her wing and escorts him to a crowded street in downtown Lungmen where the Carnival Gala is being held, and where the mafiosi won't be able to openly attack them without drawing attention. However, much like the rest of Penguin Logistics, Mostima is more concerned about enjoying the scenery and checking out the stalls on the street than avoiding the mafiosi. The two stop by a candy stall and chat with the owner for a moment before leaving, but Mostima notices that they are being watched — and followed. With no other choice, Bison—with some encouragement from Mostima—jumps from the bridge to get away, landing safely on a passing cargo ship.

Mostima in the Market

The Fallen Sankta travelling around the streets of Lungmen

Bison bumps into Sora on the ship, who recognizes him as the heir to the MDL and escorts him back to the park. There, they find the Penguin Logistics gang sans Emperor interrogating a mafia member, who denies knowing anything about the bomb in the candy box. However, their reunion is cut short by the appearance of more mafiosi. The gang steal motorbikes from their attackers and drive off, but leave Bison behind in their haste. Meanwhile, Gambino and Capone discuss their plans; Gambino wants to take out Bison, Exiusiai, and Texas permanently, but Capone advises him not to stir up more trouble in Lungmen by turning their planned kidnappings into killings. Unwilling to fall into "another trap," Gambino insists that they need to tie up all loose ends by getting rid of Penguin Logistics once and for all. Capone sends a henchman to inform the Rat King that plans have changed.

Bison finally manages to catch up to the Penguin Logistics gang (with the help of a borrowed bicycle), but he is attacked by Gambino and taken hostage before he can reach them. Capone intercepts the transfer of prisoner and offers to help Bison escape from Gambino, as he believes Gambino's thirst for blood will bring down The Family in Lungmen. Capone offers Bison a deal: help him defeat Penguin Logistics, which will take out another one of MDL's competitors and benefit the company anyway, in exchange for security. This attempt to sway Bison against his own father's wishes fails however, and he refuses the deal. Right as Capone is about to execute Bison, Mostima steps in to save him. The mafiosi leave without a fight, as they are wary of the mysterious Messenger with black horns.

Meanwhile, the mayhem caused by the mafioso in Lungmen has injured several civilians, including Uncle Tung, Jaye's uncle, which catches the attention of the Rat King. The incident forces him and Waai Fu, a member of Lee's Detective Agency, to form a vigilante band to arrest the foreign criminals.

The Rulebreakers[]

Mostima finally drops Bison off at "The Ends of the Earth," but does not accompany him inside. He finds the Penguin Logistics girls having a party inside the bar, despite having been in combat within the past hour. Their fun is interrupted when Gambino's men surround the bar; Gambino shows up himself, intending to execute everyone inside. He taunts Texas, calling her the "stray dog who ran off to Lungmen" and accusing her of slandering the Sicilians. However, despite his big talk, he is unable to defeat her; Gambino eventually retreats, leaving P.L. to clean up the mess. Enraged by the destruction of his old friend's bar, Emperor orders P.L. to take the fight to the mafiosi's hideout.

Meanwhile, Gambino has begun to suspect that Capone has betrayed The Family; already thinking that he has grown weak from the "Siracusa fiasco" which destroyed the Sicilians, Gambino plans to take out Capote and his men before dealing with Penguin Logistics. He finally confronts Capote, who retaliates that Gambino's ways will test the patience of the authorities in Lungmen and end up destroying the Family. P.L. intervenes before the two can attack each other, and a three-way battle ensues between Gambino, Capote, and the P.L.. The Rat King also joins the fight, his Sand Originium Arts summoning a sandstorm which engulfs the street and scatters everyone around. Bison, Mostima, Exusiai are separated from the others. The latter two catch up briefly after a long while apart, but Mostima leaves soon afterward, which upsets Exusiai. They join up with Texas, Croissant, and Sora to head to the Carnival Gala at Emperor's behest.

The Rat King finally confronts Capone and Gambino, angered at all the chaos the mafioso have caused in Lungmen in a single night. He retracts the "deal" he had made with the two to tolerate the Family's presence in Lungmen. The Rat King does not wish to fight, but Gambino strikes back at him before he is immediately back-stabbed by Capone. The Rat King, however, is not pleased by Capone's betrayal of his own brother—he reveals that he already has moles within the Family, that he had been manipulating the two against each other, and that both Capone and Gambino's men have defected to his side. Defeated and with no backup, the two men flee, but not before Capone promises the Rat King he will regret not finishing him. While the Rat King seems to have settled the issue of the mafiosi, he sets out to "wrap things up" by dealing with the troublesome Penguin Logistics.

The Sauin Climax[]

The Rat King Speaks

The Rat King greeting the people admist the Sauin festival

It is the night of Sauin, a festival meant to commemorate the deceased with a bustling carnival, and the night streets of Lungmen are already flooded with people enjoying the festival. Emperor and his gang march towards the streets and boastfully declares a challenge against the Rat King. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the penguin is "stabbed" by the Rat King, and the world's famous rapper seems to be dead. The Rat King then announces from his float that he has a little "surprise" for the rest of Penguin Logistics, who are now surrounded by the Rat King's newly acquired mafiosi allies.

Despite being outnumbered, P.L. is able to fend off the Rat King's attack. In the meantime, Mostima re-appears alongside the girls and unleashes her time-manipulative Arts from her "Black Locks" and "White Keys," a pair of mysterious staves she possesses. Suddenly, Emperor is seemingly shot dead by Butler's sniper fire. When the girls finally reach the float, they discover what seems to be a ticking time bomb.

The Gig Ends

"Well, what a surprising 'gift'..."

To their surprise, when the timer goes off candy begins raining from the sky, and the surrounding mafiosi immediately drop their act. The bomb was a dud, leaving behind an empty metal box that only contained a simple note from Rat King: "Happy Sauin."

The Wrap-Up[]

Bison and the Penguin Logistics gang finally let out a sigh of relief in the wreckage of "The Ends of the Earth." Bison struggles to contend with his realization the events of the night were likely orchestrated by his father, Butler, Emperor, and the Rat King as a means to test him. He professes to Mostima that while he finds Penguin Logistics "terrible" and their philosophy dangerous, their way of living might be what he actually wants. Mostima and Exusiai then finally have a proper reunion after four years of separation. Exusiai professes that she needs closure on the "incident" in Laterano years ago involving her sister and Mostima; she wasn't able to find any information on the incident due to it being classified as a state secret. Mostima promises to tell about it at a later date.

Exuisiai eventually falls asleep in Mostima's lap in the middle of the party. Mostima's Laterano-assigned supervisor Fiammetta, who has made her way into the bar, tells Mostima she must stop Exuisiai from digging into classified information. She also specifically warns her to never speak about the events at Kazdel involving Exusiai's sister. Emperor miraculously shows up alive and well, interrupting Flammetta and Mostima's conversation. After Flammetta takes her leave, Emperor promises Mostima a job that will "blow her away."

Mostima and Exusiai Tender Moments

Even if it's momentary, the haloes of the Sankta prove their genuine friendship.

Even though the show is over, the mess must be cleaned up. Out of anger, Emperor demands reparations for the damages done to his bar. Eurill promises him for that, but the conversation also reveals that the mafiosi's incident was actually a coincidence that even the Rat King was not well aware of. Days later, Emperor even lets his gang to chase after the remaining mafiosi out of vengeance for his destroyed collection.

Capone and Gambino bump into each other as they are both fleeing Lungmen; however, their imminent fight is interrupted by the arrival of Lappland, the infamous "lone wolf" of Siracusa. Lappland has come to Lungmen in search of Texas, who she remarks must have changed quite a bit if she let Capone and Gambino leave alive. She threatens to kill the two men herself and drag their bodies to Texas to see her reaction—despite betraying each other numerous times, Capone and Gambino team up one last time against the greater threat.

It is later revealed that Lappland ended up forcing the two to be her henchmen instead of killing them, and they would eventually become pawns in her great scheme to reunite with Texas.
