True damage, sometimes referred to as Pure damage, is not reduced by DEF or RES and ignores the majority of damage mitigation effects, thus it will almost always be inflicted at exactly the specified amount.
The only known effects that can mitigate True damage include:
- Shields and Barriers (except those that specify a damage type like Nightingale's
Arts Shield and Phantom's
Phantom of the Night), the former of which are single-use.
- Hoshiguma's Tactical Armor talent, despite the in-game description saying it only procs by Physical and Arts damage sources.
- Mudrock's Brotherhood talent against Sarkaz enemies.
- Texas the Omertosa's Texas Swordsmanship talent.
- Młynar's Wanderer talent when 3+ enemies are in the surrounding tiles.
- Gavial the Invincible's File:Skill-.png Soul of the Jungle.
- Guardian Defenders' GUA-Y Operator Module.
- The Deathless Black Snake's damage reduction against friendlies that are being affected by Burning Breath.
- Sui-Xiang's damage reduction against sources above or below Him.
- Awaken's damage reduction while Experimental Products are active.
- "Boy Wonder" Sandel's damage reduction against friendlies not blocking him while being blocked.
In the game files, True damage is defined as a distinct damage type that is not subject to modifiers toward the other damage types, which distinguishes it from damage that ignores defenses (as they would still be of a certain type nonetheless, such as the damage from Franka's Thermite Blade Talent); in fact, True damage was inaccurately defined as "damage that ignores DEF and RES" before an update, although in many practical cases this definition is still sufficient.

- The "Essence of Evolution" also takes 300 True damage every second while in the Perfect form.
Other[]
- The eruption of Heated Paths and Lava Cracks deal True damage.
- The vast majority of HP drain/loss effects, such as those from the Active Originium effect and Poison Haze, are treated as True damage.
- The High-Energy Originium Bomb and Interference Mine deals True damage to enemies caught in its AoE upon detonation.
- Originium Altars periodically deal 500 True damage to both friendly units and enemies (except Sarkaz Guerrilla Fighters and Sarkaz Guerrilla Casters, Mercenary Sarkaz Fighters and Mercenary Sarkaz Casters, and Patriot) in a radius of 2 tiles around them.
- Patriot's Originium Altar in R8-6 deals 2000 True damage to enemy units instead.
- Pulse Defense Modules deal 5000 True damage to enemy units in a radius of 3 tiles around their lower part when activated.
- Nervous Impairment deals 1000 True damage when it procs.
- Enemies caught in a collapsing Tattered Pillar receive 12000 True damage.
- In Phantom & Crimson Solitaire:
- When the "Survivalist" Hallucination is active, friendlies and enemies will take 50 and 100 True damage, respectively, every second.
- The
"Excessiveness" Collectible causes all enemies present to receive 3000 True damage whenever an enemy enters a Protection Objective.
- Host's Assistants summoned by the Troupe Mouthpiece constantly deals True damage to surrounding friendly units.
- The Spiked Treasure Chest deals 40% of the attackers damage back to them as True damage.
- In Mizuki & Caerula Arbor:
- The Londinium Secondary Defense Artillery deals True damage to the target and both friendly units and enemies caught in its AoE.
- In Stationary Security Service:
- If a deployed Contaminated Mineral is not destroyed in time, it will explode, dealing 1000 True damage to friendly units caught in its blast.
- Whenever a Heat Cluster is transferred into the Deployment Waiting Zone, all friendly units will receive 500 True damage.
- Choosing the High-Efficiency Baking Powder in Bottomless Pit will cause all friendlies to recieve 15 True damage per second for each Powder taken.
Interactions[]
The only known interaction with True damage is Civilight Eterna in Integrated Strategies, which increases the True damage taken by enemies by 150%.
