Flametail is a 6★ Pioneer Vanguard who specializes in DP-Recovery and Survival. As a Pioneer Vanguard, Flametail has high HP and DEF, and can block two enemies. Her stats, especially HP and DEF, are in the higher end among all Vanguards, allowing Flametail to last longer than other Vanguards and making her more of a defensive Pioneer Vanguard in a similar vein to Courier and Zima. However, Flametail's DP cost is the highest of all Vanguards due to her rarity, tied with Saga and Siege.

Flametail's skills fit well to her specializations by improving her survivability (particularly by dodging incoming attacks) and offensive capability, and generate DP for the team:

  • The first skill, Quick Intuition, is similar to Fang's Charge α but with lower SP cost, some initial SP at higher levels, and dodges the next Physical attack received by Flametail in each activation, although this cannot be stacked. Quick Intuition is useful when Flametail is going to be used on the defensive, as not only it steadily generates DP, but also improves the chances of her surviving from high-ATK, Physical attacking enemies.
  • The second skill, "Pinus Sylvestris", is identical to Texas' Sword Rain but deals Physical damage instead of Arts, has a much shorter stun duration, and give friendly units within range a chance to dodge Physical attacks for 10 seconds. While appearing to be useful in paper, Pinus Sylvestris is somewhat unreliable due to the lower stun duration and a relatively short buff duration, though it can be used to good effect when Flametail and her allies are expecting large, contant swarm of enemies especially early in the operation.
  • The third skill, Flameheart, generates 8 DP over 8 seconds, during which Flametail attacks faster and have her ATK buffed, block count increased by one (thus she can now block three enemies), and gains a high chance to dodge both Physical and Arts attacks. Despite the short duration, Flameheart's high dodge and good uptime effectively bolsters the odds of Flametail surviving from high-ATK enemies by a significant margin, not to mention the offensive buff allows her to dish out heavier punishment especially if Flametail is engaging multiple enemies at once, and allows Flametail to function as a makeshift Protector Defender.

Flametail's first talent, Vanguard Swordsmanship, causes her next attack after successfully dodging a Physical attack to deliver two hits; at Elite 2, it also makes the said attack hit multiple enemies within range equal to Flametail's block count, which synergizes well with Flameheart to turn her into a pseudo-Centurion/Swordmaster Guard (if not limited by the fact that she must dodge enemy attacks for Vanguard Swordsmanship to work). Her second talent, Pinus Sylvestris Leader, gives Kazimierzian Operators (Blemishine, Gravel, Meteor, Nearl the Radiant Knight, Platinum, Whislash, and Pinus Sylvestris Operators) a small chance to dodge Physical attacks while Flametail is deployed, which improves their survivability by a bit.

Flametail has two Operator Modules:

  • Her SOL-X Module, Their Future, increases Flametail's ATK and DEF by 8% when she is blocking enemies, in addition to increasing her ATK and DEF; once upgraded, Pinus Sylvestris Leader's dodge is increased and it also gives Kazimierzian Operators some SP when they are deployed.
  • Her SOL-Y Module, The Origins of Pinus Sylvestris, reduces Flametail's DP cost by 4 when she is deployed for the first time (and only the first time in an operation), in addition to increasing her maximum HP and ATK; once upgraded, Vanguard Swordsmanship now also increases the damage dealt by the attack.

Flametail's first base skill, Tiny Leader, makes Operators assigned to the Control Center (including Flametail herself) regenerate 0.05 morale per hour when she is assigned to it as well, with her second base skill Knights of Pinus Sylvestris causing each P.S. Operator (Ashlock, Fartooth, Justice Knight, and Wild Mane) assigned to Factories to increase its Battle Record productivity by 10% but reduces its Pure Gold productivity by 10%.

Overall, Flametail is an excellent Pioneer Vanguard who can generate steady stream of DP and allowing herself to remain on the field longer than other Vanguards while also inflicting more damage against enemies who approach her. Even though she looks simple, her spirit of buring flame will make her accomplish something unimaginable.

Pros Cons
  • Higher overall stats than other Pioneer Vanguards, especially HP and DEF
  • Quick Intuition causes Flametail to dodge the next Physical attack received
  • Despite not being an Arts attack, "Pinus Sylvestris" is just as useful as Texas' Sword Rain in addition to giving friendlies within range some Physical dodge
  • Vanguard Swordsmanship makes the next attack after dodging a Physical attack deliver two hits and with multi-target capability (at Elite 2)
  • Flameheart is a solid DP generation/augmentation skill, especially from its high Physical/Arts dodge
  • Pinus Sylvestris Leader gives Kazimierzian Operators a small Physical dodge while Flametail is deployed
  • Highest DP cost of all Vanguards, tied with Saga and Siege
  • Quick Intuition's guaranteed Physical dodge does not stack with multiple activations
  • The Physical damage and short stun duration of "Pinus Sylvestris" makes it less effective for crowd-control
  • Vanguard Swordsmanship relies on Flametail's dodge, which can be unreliable at times
