The Kukulkans are a mostly extinct Elderly race, possibly a subrace of Liberi, though this is unconfirmed.[1]
Overview[]
“ | She is a Liberi; she is a Pythia. Nightwinds carry her in trek, Celestials caress her in her dance. She is the last Elder who hasn't lost the power of the sky. | ” |
—An ancient quote of the Kulkulkans, mentioned by Jara[2] |
The Kukulkans have the traits of the Feathered/Plumed Serpent in Mesoamerican mythologies and are named after the Mayan Plumed Serpent. True to this fact, they are basically Liberi with partial Pythia traits, notably their tails.
As one of the Elderly races of Terra originating from Sargon, Kukulkans were said to possess Arts that could manipulate the weather. In many legends, they are described to be the "rulers" of the sky, in which they were said to possess the power of flight. Thanks to their Elderly bloodline, they have an elongated lifespan that allows them to live for several centuries.[3]
However, the Kukulkans practiced a cruel culture for four centuries (c.a. the 6th century). Upon birth, a young Kukulkan had to undergo a magical "surgery", unrelated to Arts, in which they are forced to have their collective ancestral memories implanted into their brains. Even though they proudly see this ritual as a ceremony of "heritage" from their ancestors, it drastically reduces their lifespan as a grave consequence due to the permanent damaging to their brains.[3] By the modern era, only a handful of Kukulkans still remain, and they have lost much of their ancestral traits due to their ritual.

- The inhumane ritual practiced among the Kukulkans alludes to the culture of human sacrifice practiced by ancient Mayans such as the notorious heart removal.
