Loken Williams is an NPC in Arknights who is first mentioned in Rosmontis' Archive files before appearing as a supporting character in Lone Trail.

Background[]

Loken is brilliant scientist who had graduated from the Trimounts Institute of Technology, the same university with Saria and Kristen. He was an excellent researcher on Originium Arts and had once compiled his experimental results in a college lecture at his alma mater where he discussed the basic mechanism of Arts, its connection with one's psychic ability, and its possible applications through various artificial mediums.[1] Thanks to his detailed explanations and his grand vision, his lecture did influence many students such as Dorothy who would later become the director of Rhine Lab's Originium Arts Section.[2] Gradually, he founded his very own laboratory dubbed the "Loken Watertank Laboratory" where he fully dedicated himself on the research on Arts.

However, the more Loken continued his research, the madder he became. He started neglecting the ethics of science, believing that only by ignoring them should mankind break through its physical barrier.[3] He also began to kidnap many children to use them as his "lab rats." Specifically, he intentionally destroyed Rosmontis' family, brought in both herself and her younger brother, and treated them as experimental subjects on his latest yet extreme experiments such as turning the girl into an "non-Infected" caster by carefully "implanting" Originium inside her and a "mind transplantation" test that resulted in the death of her brother. Loken's experiments, however, brought a disastrous consequence when Rosmontis suddenly went rampage due to the immeasurable tortures and destroyed much of his laboratory, hence the "Loken Watertank Incident."[4]

Right after the incident, Loken was arrested by Maylander for his crime on child abuse and unethical experiments, and many of his test subjects, including Rosmontis herself, were secretly exfiltrated out of the country by the said NGO.[4] Currently, he is sentenced to be imprisoned for more than 122 years.[5]

Lone Trail[]

This section pertains to a subject that is not yet released in the Global server of Arknights.

Loken is visited by Rosmontis, who wants to see her own past. He asks her to stay with his short-remaining life, before telling about the aftermath of his life after his atrocious experiment to the little feline. He states that all of his colleagues including his professor did not agree with his immorality and wished him to die. He also states that his experiment ruined his life, as all universities rejected him and the government refused to fund his any other researches. He then attempts to guilt trip Rosmontis, saying that he "raised her". However, the immoral scientist gets overtaken by his own guilt, as he has a breakdown in front of Rosmontis, asking her to kill him. Rosmontis, however, refused, saying that it will not make any difference. In the end, the immoral scientist succumbs to his disease, with Rosmontis forgetting him shortly after.
