Long Night, Near Light

The intense, blood-pumping climax of the Kazimierz Major trilogy

The return of the Radiant Knight
pushes the Special Knight Tournament to a climax.
At the same time, in the dark corners where the neon lights do not shine,
the suppressed roars are about to break their shackles.
On the stage, the paths of the knights cross.
Below the stage, the city lingers on the brink.
Soon, the two paths will converge...

Fear Neither Hardship...[]

The Opening Days[]

Following the mess in the preliminaries of the 24th Kazimierz Major, everything went on smoothly as the Major is officially opened, pitting many old and new Kazimierzian knights such as the Leithanian-born Viviana Droste the Candle Knight and Tola the Nightmare Knight among others to be the champion. During this time, Rhodes Island stops by at Kazimierz before their advance to Victoria and watches the Major as well as establishing partnerships with the Kazimierz General Chamber of Commerce and Adeptus Sprawiedliwi Kazimierz to push for better Infected rights in the country, establishing a good rapport with the latter and their liaison and the Doctor's escort, the slave knightess Senomy aka. Gravel.

Meanwhile, Margaret decides to take Maria's place in the Major to keep her sister away from potential threats due to the K.G.C.C.'s intrigues, as attested during the preliminaries. As for the now-Spokesman Malkiewicz, he tried his best to be accustomed with his new position with support from his fellow spokesman McKee while the nefarious Armorless Union plotted schemes and the Pinus Sylvestris struggling to survive the constant A.U. purges of the Infected in Kawalerielki, which could spice up the Major's already intense atmosphere.

The Kazimierzian Nights[]

The very first match of the Major, however, is marred by a horrible atrocity. Pitting Jamie, an Infected P.S. knight, against many other non-Infected knights including the notorious Olmer Ingra the Brassrust Knight, the capture-the-flag (CTF) match quickly goes one-sided as the non-Infected knights led by Olmer who despises the Infected ganged up on Jamie and even refuses to let him give up. In an act of desperation, the battered Jamie attempts to use his Originium Arts to take his tormentors along with him, but is fatally wounded by Olmer. Jamie's death causes the match to be abruptly stopped out of concerns for Originium contamination, and the Kazimierzians start question the treatment of the Infected knights. As for Olmer, Malkiewicz manages to strike a deal with the National Council to have the Brassrust Knight punished for his crimes in return for "doing them a favor".

Meanwhile, Margeret is given the opportunity to meet Tola and Viviana. Tola causes some trouble after he startes a fight with the Nearls' accomplices, particularly his kinsmen Vogelweide, out of his delusional veneration of his Khaganate ancestry. Following her victory over Tytus Topola the Left-handed Knight as her first match in the Major, she meets wiath Viviana for the first time, who informs her that she will be the Radiant Knight's next opponent. Viviana promises to fight Margaret with honor, even refusing McKee's suggestions to allow the K.G.C.C. tamper the match in favor of the Candle Knight.

As for the P.S., after being encouraged by the bounty hunter Toland Cash, they searches for information over the Great Kawalerielki Separation three years ago to start a second one with the Adeptus' support. Once the P.S. has the what they need, the knightesses, Toland, and their newly-accepted ally Szewczyk the Plastic Knight are ready for the plan. They are promised by the Adeptus for better, liberal treatment on the Infected community in exchange for intel regarding the recently-built Area 0 which the Adeptus suspects it to be a slaughterhouse onto the Infected.

Flickering Candle, Fleeting Shadow

Viviana's candelabrum lights the path

During the Margaret-vs-Viviana match, both sides demonstrate their prowess by unleashing their Arts without the intention of winning the battle in a hurry, making it more of a dazzling show of respect as both sides exchanges friendly words with each other. Unbeknownst to Margaret, the A.U. under Centaurea the Platinum kidnaps Maria to force her into forfeiting to Viviana's favor under the K.G.C.C.'s orders, but she is rescued by the P.S. and Toland. The A.U. persistently goes after Maria to Marcin's bar, but they are easily dealt with by the patrons as they demonstrates their power. The match between Margaret and Viviana eventually ends in a victory for the Radiant Knight after the Candle Knight's sword snaps and she admits defeat. Meanwhile, the Doctor builds up a good relationship with the K.G.C.C., prominently Malkiewicz, though he remains reluctant to help them in dealing with the Infected issue.

Balance and Imbalance

Just a nice and quiet talk between three people of different sides in one bench. Nothing could go wrong. Really.

After the foiled kidnapping of Maria and pursuing the P.S., the A.U. sets their eyes to R.I. for being a "nuisance" and carries out an Infected purge in the ghettoes under the oversight of Roy the Lazurite. Amidst the purge, Roy encounters Młynar, who is casually sitting on a bench and reading a newspaper during his afterwork hours. The Lazurite sits beside Młynar with the intention to eliminate him for being the A.U.'s obstacle, but the former remarks that he is waiting for someone. Just then, Młynar's "guest" finally arrives, revealing herself to be Shining the ex-Confessarius and Margaret's sister-in-arms. She sits beside Młynar upon arriving, resulting in an awkward silence between her, Młynar, and Roy. The awkwardness breaks when the Lazurite gives up and leaves the scene along with his men, unwilling to risk the Sarkaz's wrath. Shining then informs Młynar about Margaret's recent victory, though he remains indifferent about it as usual and maintaining an apathetic attitude towards his cousin.

...Nor the Darkness[]

Lights Out[]

A Momentary Dance

A tender moment between the Followers trio

The situation in Kawalerielki remains tense as the Infected starts protesting over the inhumane treatment they receive. Margaret takes a walk together with Shining and Nightingale amidst the uneasiness, where the two Sarkaz try to comfort and reassure her that they will always be sisters-in-arms. The Followers' warm-hearted interaction is rudely interrupted by Monique' and Roy' appearance. The Lazurites offeres to make peace with the Radiant Knight, but she is unaware that this is a distraction for the Darksteels, the "leaders" of the A.U., to shot her from an extreme distance. Fortunately, Shining and Margaret's quick reaction foils the attempt on their lives, and the Lazurites retreats with a stern warning of avoiding meddling their affairs.

Against All Odds

Monique: "There's no escape!"
Iwona: "Doesn't matter, I'll take you all with me!"

Days later, the P.S. is ready to carry out their plan of starting the second Kawalerielki Separation. Iwona distracts the A.U. while Justyna and Szewczyk provide covering fire for Greynuty and Sona as they infiltrate the K.G.C.C. headquarters and cut off Kawalerielki's energy supplies. As the moment counts down, Iwona has a stand-off with Monique and the Third Squad, and she is almost overwhelmed by their forces had not a mysterious figure in crimson armor rescued her and expel the Third Squad. To P.S.' surprise, someone has already set explosive charges on the sub-station and detonates them, causing a city-wide blackout earlier than they intended. It turns out all the time they have been fooled by the A.U. who is the mastermind behind this accident.

The blackout creates panic among the public, especially as various factions are having a bitter fight in open streets, and it also forces the Major to be temporary suspended for evacuation. Even the A.U. takes this opportunity to assassinate several chairmen in the K.G.C.C. to fulfil their ultimate goal: a complete break off from the K.G.C.C.'s control. Nevertheless, Greynuty and Sona continue their mission under the cover of the such chaotic moment, and the Flametail Knight manages to recover the information pertaining to Area 0. While avoiding Roy who were in the building as well, Sona was contacted by the Darksteels who demanded her to hand the data them over the A.U.. Sona refuses and finds another way out to regroup with Greynuty, but their actions have been under Roy's supervision. A fight is unavoidable with the Darksteels even providing covering fire by shooting Sona from an extreme distance, causing her to fall into the gap between mobile platforms had not Viviana come for the rescue. Under Viviana's cover, Sona eventually safely arrives at the Champions' Hall to meet Ioleta Russell, the Adeptus' Grand Knight who offers their help in her quest.

Silverlance Enters the City

The Silverlance Pegasi illuminates the streets as they enters Kawalerielki

The conflict behind the scenes ceased by the arrival of the Silverlance Pegasi, Kazimierz's best-of-the-best, in Kawalerielki. This forces the A.U. to back off and not rouse their ire. The K.G.C.C. openly protests the Silverlances' supposedly illegal presence to the National Council, but are immediately refuted by the fact that they are allowed to enter Kawalerielki in states of emergency. The city's power is restored not long after the Silverlances' arrival, and the situation gradually calms down. Still, Greynuty is pursued by Centaurea following her escape from the K.G.C.C. HQ, with the Platinum displaying impressive marksmanship against Szewczyk and Justyna. On the other hand, Centaurea offers peace negotiation between them; she will release Szewczyk's family from hostage in exchange for them stopping interfering the A.U.'s affairs.

The Doctor later discuss with Malkiewicz about the situation in Area 0. The former wishes to have a proper explanation, and the spokesman answers that it is a necessary evil to maintain order. Even then, he expresses his desire to cooperate with R.I. to somehow help out in resolving the issue.

Nightmare Unshakeable[]

The Doctor's Battle

The slave knightess Gravel facing off against the grumpy assassin Platinum

R.I.'s involvement in the Area 0 affairs has caused suspicion by the K.G.C.C. Seeing the company being a threat to their power, they send Centaurea to assassinate the Doctor had not Senomy protects them. Nevertheless, they already figure out that the K.G.C.C. has to eliminate R.I. for touching their interest, and they refute the Platinum that legally speaking, the company is already part of the K.G.C.C. as temporary ally. This assassination will only worsen the on-going political conflicts among the chairmen of the K.G.C.C. Even Centaurea receives an order from the Darksteels via phone call to spare them and halt the persecution in Area 0. Seeing herself unable to refute, Centaurea hurriedly retreats before Amiya's surprising arrival.

Back in the arena, Tola and Margaret finally face each other for the semi-final. The match is portrayed by Greatmouth Mob as a historical, legendary fight between a Nightzmora and a Pegasus, arousing the audience's spirit. But as the match goes on, Tola's unleashed potential strikes terror onto the audience, and the judges deem him violating the rules. Even then, Tola neglects their judgement until he was interrupted by a crimson sword sent by Dikaiopolis, the famous "Blood Knight" and hero of the Infected. While Tola has fouled the match, he is given mercy by the judges by having another round with the Blood Knight.

Lord of the Nightzmora

"The Khagan is wherever the tip of my blade points. I—am my own Khagan!"

However, Tola is extremely unhappy of their interruption. In fact, he sees it as a total blasphemy against the Khaganate's legacies. Out of rage, he suddenly approaches Maria with brute force while walking down the streets. Vogelweide hurriedly arrives to protect Maria and scolds the young warrior of waking up from his delusion. Nevertheless, the Nightzmora refuses to listen to the old knight's words and mercilessly charges towards the two. Just as Maria gets herself injured, Tola somehow sees "golden blood" on her due to her Arts, which he deems it to be a genuine proof of a Pegasian legacy. With that said, Tola stops his fight and leaves while leaving a message that his fight is just temporarily postponed.

On the day for the match between Tola and Dikiopolis, the two warriors finally meet each other. Just like others, Dikaiolpolis sees Tola as a delusional young man who has left astray by his exaggerated veneration of the past. Despite others' words, Tola refuses to give up of his goal to find a worthy opportunity for his ageless "Khaganquest." Realizing him of searching his goals in vain in this lifeless city, Tola finally makes his own grand proclamation as his own "Khagan" and summons a seemingly hordes of the Kheshigs' ghosts, intending to give a final blow onto the Blood Knight.

Unfortunately, the awakened Nightzmora is not an opponent to the Blood Knight, and the unconscious warrior has to be sent for treating his injuries under Vogelweide's provision. While he sees himself defeated, he regrets nothing but continues his "Khaganquest," knowing that there are still true warrior living in this debaucherous city.

Prominence and Sanguine[]

Light and Blood

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is truly the match of the century! The Radiant Knight and the Blood Knight; two heroes of the Infected, facing off in this grand duel!"

The day of the Major's grand final has finally arrived as a match between Margaret and Dikaiopolis, the two Infected heroes. Many are eager to see this historical fight and even debate that who should be the most trustworthy hero of the Infected. On one hand, many are upset of the K.G.G.C. exiling Margaret for covering up her Oripathy following her victory in the second last Major, but others rebuke that Dikaiopolis contributes more by forcing the Major to implement the Infected Participation System. Nevertheless, both Margaret and Dikaioplolis sees each other as nameless comrades fighting for the Infected's survival with their own methods.

Meanwhile, the K.G.C.C. is unhappy to see two Infected knights competing in the grand final. They fear that such will only arouse riot among the Infected that will threaten their position. With that said, they give A.U. one final order of stopping both of them winning the match. They are to eliminate their targets while luring away the Silverlances, which Centaurea deems to be totally impossible.

This Path

They are neither losers nor victors of the Major, just two knights who stand up against Kazimierz's decadence

The climatic fight between Margeret and Dikiopolis ends with Margeret's ultimate victory, yet she also gives her honor respect to her challenger by carrying the exhausted warrior on her shoulder. With that said, the K.G.C.C. launches their ultimatum. Attempting to arouse infighting among the Infected, they had Mob to publicly announce this hidden truth: Margert's Oripathy is actually a forgery, hence she is never an Infected. While everyone, including the two knights, are in shock, the A.U. assassins break into the stadium to arrest R.I. members and the Nearl families as they are watching the match there. Despite the chaos, Margaret leads Dikaiopolis to the Champions' Hall where the closing ceremony is to be held. Along their grand march, the Adeptus orders the Silverlances to escort them safely. Others to provide their help such as the P.S. faction, Viviana, and the Followers. Even Młynar, despite detesting of meddling in this chaotic affair, finally steps in by stopping Roy together with his friend Toland.

Breaking Dawn[]

Upon arriving at the Champion's Hall, Ioleta warmly welcomes the two Infected heroes. The knights are glad to see this moment being undisturbed by journalists and camera flashlights but a moment of solidarities between honory heroes. With that said, the old woman is glad to see younger generations like Margaret, Dikaiopolis, and Sona are accomplishing new achievements while doing away the ages of the past, and she blesses them by describing that dawn has finally arrived at Kazimierz.

After the end of the 24th Major, every knights, whether winning or defeated, embarks on their new quests. Margaret decides to stay back in Kawalerielki to settle down the remaining chaos while educating the public on putting down their fear onto the Infected. As the Grand Knight Territory disbands, P.S. finds their way to Rhodes Island in hope of learning a whole new world. And together with Toland, Sona firmly believes that they should not just fight for the Infected alone but the people being oppressed by this feudal, conservative, old era. Together with his reunited family, Szewczyk officially announces his retirement from the Major to avoid further persecution by the A.U. The same goes to Dikiopolis who decides to settle down in a remote village and run an olive farm. Viviana is sent into exile from Kawalerielki for refusing to listen to the K.G.C.C.'s order, yet she wishes Margeret good luck in her mission before her departure.

Other factions too are moving on. As the Major ends, Malkiewicz is introduced by McKee to become a member of the Rose Papers Union. He also learns from the words of McKee's father Cain of the K.G.C.C.'s goal: they must have Kazimierz abandon its feudal knightly traditions, suppress rebellious campaign knights under the Adeptus, and embrace its current capitalist economy to fend off themselves from other superpowers, especially Columbia. The A.U. successfully forges their "death" to avoid prosecution by the K.G.C.C, yet they rebrand themselves as a shampoo company to join the K.G.C.C. Being tired of the A.U. shenanigans, Centaurea risks her life to escape from them and seek shelter in R.I. through the Doctor's help after a cat-and-mouse game in the city. As for Tola, after having a brief meeting with Ioleta, the young Nightzmora continues his "Khaganquest" to reach his finally destination – the frigid Infy Icefield where his ancestor vanished millennia ago. His growing ghost hordes terrify the border guards of the Northland and eventually vanishes amidst the snow.
