Rathalos acts as the main boss of A Flurry to the Flame.
Description
- The crimson-carapaced, flame-commanding Rathalos, its capacity for flight excels among Flying Wyverns, its aerial assaults and flaming breath combine to dominate over a vast array of life. Owing to the astonishing strength by which it rules the air, it is also known as the "King of the Skies."
- The Rathalos's tail can be severed by attacking it from behind in its Grounded State; Flash Grenades can knock the Rathalos out of its Flying State; if it is not defeated in the first wave, it will [Nest] and move into the stage's [Den] wave
Overview[]
The King of the Skies lives up to its reputation with extraordinarily high stats, land and aerial capabilities, and while its defenses are severely lacking, it possesses a wide variety of abilities and mechanics which make it uniquely powerful among Arknights' roster of bosses.
- Rathalos is counted as three enemies when blocked, immune to Bind, and cannot be shifted.
- Roar: 5 seconds after spawning, Rathalos will roar to Stun all deployed friendly units for 5 seconds.
- Rathalos has a second HP meter below its first one, showing the HP for its tail which is equal to 600% (Level 0)/550% (Level 1)/500% (Level 2) of its maximum HP and depleted when it is attacked from the rear. Depleting Rathalos' tail HP will sever it, causing Rathalos to enter a dazed state for 12 seconds and permanently weakens its Tailspin and Aerial Claw Attack (see below).
- When dazed, Rathalos is disabled, takes doubled damage, and will be grounded if it is flying (see below), but cannot be blocked.
- Rathalos initially starts in a grounded state with the following properties:
- Uses a ranged Physical attack with a range of 1.1 tiles.
- Tailspin: Rathalos swipes its tail to deal Physical damage equal to 150% of Rathalos' ATK towards friendly units within a radius of 2.05 tiles behind it with a cooldown of 10 seconds. If Rathalos' tail was severed (see above), Tailspin's damage and radius are reduced to 60% and 1.05 tiles, respectively.
- Fire Breath: A fireball attack that deals Arts damage equal to Rathalos' ATK towards the furthest friendly unit within a range of 3 tiles, with a cooldown of 2 seconds from when it spawns and 3.6 seconds after.
- When its HP reaches 0 for the first time, Rathalos will survive and Roar (see above) after 3 seconds before fully restoring its HP over 7.6 seconds, during which it is invulnerable and disabled. After reviving, Rathalos will enter the second phase with the following properties:
- HP and ATK increased by a massive 320000 (Level 0)/390000 (Level 1)/470000 (Level 2) and 300, respectively.
- Enters a flying state immediately after revival, gaining the following properties:
- Backfire: Breathes fire immediately upon taking flight, dealing Arts damage and inflicting Burn Damage build-up equal to 60% and 5% of its ATK, respectively, to friendly units in a radius of 1.2 tiles and ignites the tiles for 4 seconds, dealing Arts damage equal to 20% of Rathalos' ATK every second to friendlies on them. If Rathalos is grounded and takes flight again, Backfire's Arts damage is increased to 80% ATK but its Burn Damage build-up is reduced to 3% ATK.
- Speed quadrupled.
- Now uses ranged Arts attacks by launching fireballs that can only target friendly units in front of it but have an unlimited range, inflict Burn Damage build-up equal to 20% of its ATK, and prioritize the friendly with the highest HP percentage over the others. Because of this, Rathalos will prioritize turning towards the side with the most friendly units to attack them.
- Aerial Claw Attack: Rathalos swipes all around it to deal Physical damage equal to 160% (90% if its tail was severed) ATK to all targets within a radius of 2.5 (1.5 if its tail was severed) tiles, with a cooldown of 8 seconds from when Rathalos takes flight and 13 seconds after.
- Two fire breath attacks, both of which ignite the tiles struck for 8 seconds (see above) albeit dealing a higher damage-over-time of 30% ATK per second:
- Aerial Fire Breath: Rathalos breathes a fan of fire that covers a 100° radius 3 tiles ahead of it, dealing Arts damage and inflicting Burn Damage build-up equal to 50% of its ATK with a cooldown of 25 seconds (10 seconds at Level 1 and 2) from when Rathalos takes flight and 30 seconds after.
- Rushing Fire Breath: Rathalos winds up and spits fire in a straight line, hitting a 6×3 rectangle in front of and dealing Arts damage and Burn Damage build-up equal to 80% and 50% of its ATK respectively, with a cooldown of 30 seconds (15 seconds at Level 2) from when Rathalos takes flight and 40 seconds after.
- If a Flash Grenade is used against the flying Rathalos, it will be grounded and dazed for 12 seconds on the first use, 10 seconds on the second use, and 8 seconds from the third use onward.
- If grounded, Rathalos will take flight and use Backfire after 20 seconds have passed or upon taking 40000 (Level 0/1)/45000 (Level 2) damage. Damage done while Rathalos is in a dazed state does not count toward this threshold.
- Nest: If Rathalos reaches a specific tile on the map and is not defeated before then, it becomes invulnerable and retreats to its den, located on an initially inaccessible area until all other enemies are defeated, at which the battlefield shifts toward the den area in a similar manner to wave changes on Trials for Navigator. Upon shifting to the den, Rathalos is asleep until attacked or after 5 minutes have passed from when it retreats to the den, upon which it wakes up grounded and advances toward the Protection Objective in the den area.
- While in its den, Rathalos is invulnerable until the battlefield shifts to the den, preventing it from being attacked early with global attacks (e.g. Ambriel's Radar Sweep).
- When the battlefield shifts to the den, all deployed friendly units are automatically retreated and can be instantly redeployed once the den is accessible (although their DP cost still ramps up as usual). However, friendlies who are waiting for deployment do not have their redeployment time refreshed.
- If Rathalos is damaged by an High-Energy Originium Barrel Bomb while asleep, it will take double damage for 1 second.
