The Banshees are a “subrace” of the Sarkaz.
Overview[]
The Banshees resemble the namesake in Celtic folklore. Most Banshees are female, and male Banshees are considered a rarity within their subrace.[1] As a matter of fact, most of the Banshee leaders, titled the "Great Banshee", are female, and lead an appearing matriarchal society. They are also famous for their aromatic perfumes, which are specifically made for their beloved ones. It is said that their scent is strong enough that a single drop can enchant pretty much anyone, even inspiring artists.[2]
As a member of the Sarkaz's Royal Court, Banshees are notable for their supreme oral Arts, and like the Wendigoes and the Nachzehrer, they possess the ability to absorb and utilize the wrath of the deceased.[3] In ancient times, Banshees and Vampires used to fight together, using their enemies' fear to their advantage. Yet according to The Sanguinarch, they became more pretentious, decrepit, and conformist.[4]
Because Banshees are regarded as "guardians of the dead," they have a culture of blowing a magical bone whistle as a sign of lamentation. Such occasion usually occurs as commemoration for the fall of a prominent figure.[5]
