Silence has the traits of a horned owl, specifically the great horned owl (Bubo virginianus). The silhouette of one can be seen in her Elite 2 artwork.
When Arknights was first revealed in 2017, her full name was "Olivia Hermer" and her codename is instead "Silent." However, there were some inconsistencies in the beta version as her English codename used her full name instead of the intended "Silent" before being unified as "Silence" in the official version.
Later on, in the official Arknights artbook, it is confirmed that Silence was meant to be named "Olivia Hermer" with the surname being pronounced similarly with the transliteration of her Chinese surname 赫默 (Pinyin: hèmò).
Originally, Silence had three drones before the game launched officially. This is why the amount of drones is specified in the skill's description.
According to her artist, Silence can change her arm into a wing and vice versa. Since Silence was designed with this trait before being released in the game, she is the only Liberi known to be capable of doing such a thing.
