Etymology[]
The theme's name is the Wade-Giles romanization of dānqīng (丹青), referring to the vermillion and azure ingredients used to make paint for Chinese artworks. The word could mean "paint(ing)," "historical records," or (literally) "obviousness"; in this context, the name refers to "painting."
