As part of the Sui saga following Invitation to Wine, the story focuses on Chongyue, the Sui's "First Brother," and his mission to stop the scheme of his "Second Brother" and the Shanhaizhong alongside countless heroes while the northern garrison city of Yumen is about to be hit by an approaching Catastrophe after departing Lungmen, preventing him to destroy the garrison city and accelerating the Feranmut's revival.

May the Spring Breeze...[]

Yumen Tiewei

The day has finally come for Yumen to prepare for the vindicative wrath of the reviving God.

Following the Shangshu incident, the northern garrison city of Yumen prepares itself for the ultimate revival of Sui under the Grand Tutor's order. Upon refueling and replenishing supplies at Lungmen, it will head towards the imperial capital where Sui's full body is sealed. In the meantime, the city's arrival also attracts other travelers to take a tour to the city via Lungmen thanks to its strong martial art culture. Among the visitors include the Lin family and Wei Yenwu who pay a visit to Yumen's general-magistrate Zuo Xuanliao, Liang Xun who is on his way to the capital together with the Grand Tutor and Ling, Waai Fu and Lee who are searching for the missing Tianpei upon learning the news from Liang, and Du Yaoye who plans to start her own courier business in Yumen.

Yumen's course to the capital also coincides with two important festivals. Firstly, Chongyue, the city's military grandmaster and the first fragment of Sui, has finally been granted permission to retire from the imperial court after quietly guarding the city for centuries. It is also the week of the Wangfeng Festival, a celebration that venerates the countless soldiers sacrificed to defend Yumen over the years. The city's officials plan to hold a ceremony by inviting countless martial artists across Yan along with the city's garrison soldiers to participate in a tournament; the winner will be chosen to guard Chongyue's sword which conceals his Feranmut power.

While the city is docked with Lungmen, however, a sandstorm Catastrophe is about to hit the region. So, Yumen is forced to depart and continue its course. Many travelers are stuck in the city, including Wei's delegates. Nevertheless, General Zuo plans to have them settled first and them have them sent back upon reaching the capital.

Little did they realize that someone is carrying out an insidious plot to devastate the city.

Fengqi-Yunzheng (Arousing Storm)[]

Zhuofeng-Buying

No one knows who "She" is and where "She" is from; "She" only comes and goes with the crisscrossing seasons.

While the city's Tianshi and astrologists are impatiently waiting for their Messengers' news concerning the Catastrophe, Yühsia and her men find out that the Messengers have been murdered on their way by some bandits who are believed to have been hiding in the city. In the meantime, an Anasan girl named Jieyun stole Chongyue's sword, and Zuo Le suspects her to be one of the bandits. Worst of all, a mysterious "woman" almost assassinates Wei and his delegates if Chongyue and Ling had not come to their rescue. General Zuo believes all is planned by the notorious Shanhaizhong, an extremist Feranmut worshipper group who once wrecked this city twenty years ago. To avoid repeating the same mistake, he orders the city to be under strict curfew.

Spies and soldiers are sent down to Yumen's streets to hunt for the Shanhaizhong. Waai Fu offers her help to Du and her father's friend Meng Tieyi who are also searching for their missing employees when they escorted the city's Messengers. Lin also seeks help from them and shares information in hopes of gaining trust with the local martial artists. Qiubai, Chongyue's disciple and the soldiers' captain, leads the garrison soldiers in the streets and searches every house with Lee's intel. Meanwhile, Taihe is heavily injured by the mysterious women, prompting Zuo Le to accelerate the three-day investigation ordered by his father. Nevertheless, the investigation hints that there is something suspicious hidden within Meng's swordsmith workshop.

The city's curfew has already aroused some noises among the martial artists. Ever since the Yumen crisis twenty years ago due to the Shanhaizhong, General Zuo has his own distrust towards the local martial artists. Not only did he put strict regulations in traveling the city, but he even refuses to seek cooperation with the Yumenites. There are accumulating tensions between the garrison soldiers and the locals as Yumen tightens its gate. Even though Meng persuades General Zuo to soften the policy out of their friendship, everything is futile.

Meanwhile, Jieyun, now carrying Chongyue's sword, is still on her way to escape the city. Not only is she not involved with the Shanhaizhong's affair, but also, she wishes to bid farewell to the tomb of her deceased master, one of the grandmaster's disciples. While she's injured and on the run, she is miraculously rescued by a strange Feline man who brings her to his clinic. The girl does not want to drag him into her trouble, so, she quietly leaves and then hides inside Meng's workshop. Out of pity, Meng chooses to hide her inside and tells an escape route for her. According to his memory, the only way to get out of the city is to pass through Yumen's engine system while it is slowing down during the Catastrophe.

Duanbing-Xiangjie (Chaotic Fight)[]

The garrison soldiers under Zuo Le and Qiubai now surround the workshop and then breach the building. Upon their arrival, they are suddenly ambushed by Shanhaizhong members. Du also arrives at the spot, believing that it is the place where her men are held captive. Meanwhile, the mysterious woman, now revealed to be the Shanhaizhong's leader, mercilessly crushes her opponents through her "Arts" that manipulate the seasons. Seeing this as an opportunity to escape, Jieyun joins the fray as well. Even the strange Feline man, the one who saves Jieyun who turns out to be Huai Tianpei, joins the fray by snatching the sword from the authorities and even beating down the woman with his mere strength.

The Four Nüxia

"It's our showdown to stop the Shanhaizhong's plot!"

On the other side of the city where the military storehouse is located, Yühsia has finally uncovered the plot. Meng is indeed responsible for the whole incident as he wants to ignite an uprising against the general's ever-increasing harsh policies. However, he was never faithful with the Shanhaizhong but wants to have them eliminated from Yumen by the advancing Catastrophe. Before his ultimate death by the Shanhaizhong leader, Meng hands Yühsia the data capsule that stores the Catastrophe's information and frees Du's kidnapped men in the storehouse.

Yühsia manages to escape after Ch'en's surprising arrival. After handing the capsule to Du, Yühsia gathers up Waai, Ch'en, and Qiu to stop the leader's advance towards the office. However, the girls are still overpowered by the woman's "Arts." Tianpei's arrival turns the tide in which he deals a heavy blow onto her, and the fight ends with a warm-hearted reunion between Tianpei and Waai.

...Never Pass the Jade Gate[]

Gaozhan-Yuanzhu (Preparing the Storm)[]

Even though the capsule has been safely delivered, it is too late. The Catastrophe will arrive three days in advance which is much earlier than the astrologists have predicted. Surprisingly, General Zuo makes a daring decision: Yumen will brave the storm. He orders every civilian to shelter in the city's western basement where the Catastrophe wave is lighter. The "Wind Aegis," a series of fortification, will finally be put to use. Countless Tianshi and astrologists under the aid of Ling and the Lin family prepare themselves to block the heavy sandstorm through their Arts.

Tianshang Tianxia, Weiwo Duzhun

An immortal grandmaster and a mortal man, standing menacingly amidst the approaching storm.

A few hours before the Catastrophe, Tianpei and Chongyue finally meet together for a martial art duel. For five years, Tianpei has been training himself to defeat the immortal grandmaster; all he seeks is to become the strongest martial artists across Yan after defeating him. Even though Tianpei eventually loses the challenge, Chongyue is amazed by his skill and admires him to be the first one who could give him a heavy blow.

Meanwhile, Jieyun finally arrives at her master's tomb after escaping from Yumen through the Sand Sluices. There, she presents Chonyue's sword and bids her farewell to her master. She eventually returns the sword to Zuo Le and heads back to Yumen for safety.

Jueyi-Shengfu (The Final Showdown)[]

As the Catastrophe finally arrives, the Shanhaizhong seeks to wreak havoc on Yumen on more time. They target the Tianshi so that the barrier they create will be weakened by the disaster. Nevertheless, the local martial artists put down their disagreements with the authorities and aid the garrison soldiers in defending the city, a moment last seen twenty years ago. Even the Shadow Guards lend their hands under Wei's secret order.

Tianyuan-Difang

Within the crisscrossing seasons, the Yearbeast accepts the challenge of the Vengeful God.

When the Catastrophe finally dies down, Chongyue takes the opportunity to face the Shanhaizhong leader one last time. It turns out their "leader" is Ya, a Feranmut that was banished from Yan after the Great Hunt a thousand years ago. They angrily questioned Sui's betrayal of His kin and wants to seek reprimand from Him, not His fragment. A battle occurs in a magical space created by Ya's power with Chongyue finally crushing Them down with his fiery fists. Before Their departure, Ya vows to meet Sui again while cursing Him to face His kin's wrath.

Wangu-Qianqiu (An Eternal Name)[]

Yumen survives the Catastrophe but it damages many parts of the city. Even then, reconstruction has already begun the moment the Catastrophe stops, and Yumen will return to its course to the capital three months later. The Lungmenite visitors are in awe to see such a marvelous building still standing in the vast wilderness after the heavy sandstorm.

Yi Dai Zhongshi

Yumen will forever remember the name of the Grandmaster, a secret guardian of the city for centuries.

Meanwhile, Chongyue finally bids his farewell with the city following the incident. Jieyun returns his sword as promised, and he then hands it to Tianpei as a reward for the duel aside from promising him to have a next fight decades later. Qiu too says goodbye to her master and heads on onto her own journey. With that said, Chongyue quietly leaves the city before vanishing into the wilderness. Even then, General Zuo personally performs the drumming for the last day of the Wangfeng Festival, with the special eighteenth drumming commemorating Chongyue's century-old achievements.

Far in the wilderness, the surviving Shanhaizhong have quietly snuck away from the city. They then receive a mysterious letter written with exquisite materials only reserved and used by the Dukes. As it turns out, the Shanhaizhong has been collaborating with the pro-Feranmut factions in the imperial court as part of the plot of the "Second Brother"; the Yumen incident is just a façade to arouse the authorities' attention in handling the Feranmut problems. With that said, the band heads on for their next mission to prepare for the eventual revival of Sui after bidding farewell with Ya who is wandering the desert alone.
